Terms & Conditions
When working with Edinburgh Psychology & Coaching (the trading name of Craigie Partnership), we are committed to providing high-quality, ethical and professional services. We want your sessions to be helpful and safe, with minimal paperwork and no legal jargon. Our Practitioners and Clients work collaboratively together, and agree to abide by certain standards. These are listed below. We would ask that you read over them and discuss any questions or concerns with your practitioner.

The following points are to be agreed between the Client and Practitioner.
Practitioner Responsibilities
-
The Practitioner agrees to follow ethical guidelines and principles. The British Psychological Society outlines 4 pillars of ethical practice:
-
Respect – respect for individual views, confidentiality and informed consent.
-
Competency – continuing professional development and supervision where appropriate.
-
Responsibility – working to ensure risk of harm is minimised.
-
Integrity – dealing honestly, fairly and with clarity.
-
All Practitioners are professionally insured by Professional Liability Insurance.
-
Practitioners are suitably qualified, maintain regular peer supervision, and their training and professional memberships can be viewed on their Team Bios: Meet the Team | Edinburgh Psychology & Coaching
-
The Practitioner will maintain appropriate records of sessions, and these will be kept confidential. The exception to this is where there is a legal obligation to disclose information.
Client Responsibilities
-
By requesting appointments with Edinburgh Psychology & Coaching (the trading name of the Craigie Partnership), the Client agrees to attend all sessions, unless agreed in advance with the Practitioner. Sessions may be cancelled with 48 hours’ notice. Failure to attend without notice may result in the full or partial fee being payable, owing to room booking arrangements and availability of appointments to other Clients, depending on the circumstances of the cancellation.
-
To ensure a high-quality therapy or coaching alliance, and to ensure strict Client confidentiality, Practitioners typically do not write reports to third parties. The Client should inform the Practitioner of any medical or legal claim that might result in the Practitioner being asked to write a report or give a presentation to a third party, prior to commencing sessions.
-
Following an initial assessment, the Client and Practitioner will agree to an initial block of sessions, each lasting approximately 50 minutes. Additional sessions may be arranged by mutual agreement, with no minimum or maximum number of sessions. We advise Clients to discuss anticipated number and frequency of sessions with their Practitioner. This should be regularly reviewed with your Practitioner.
-
The Client may request to change the agreed number of sessions. This will be discussed with the Practitioner and reviewed accordingly.
-
Fees are to be paid directly to the Practitioner, who will inform you of their preferred method.
-
Should the Client have any medical concerns, these should be discussed with his or her GP (Therapy or Coaching do not replace medical support). The Client is also advised to inform his or her GP of individual sessions with the Practitioner if appropriate.
-
We operate a policy of zero tolerance towards threatening behaviour towards practitioners. In addition, our practice has a policy of not working with Clients under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This is to ensure a safe environment for Clients, Practitioners and other users of the building.
Your Agreement
By proceeding with therapy or coaching sessions, you are agreeing to the above points to ensure a safe environment and informed consent of all parties. Please don't hesitate to discuss anything with your Practitioner if you have any questions.
If you have any concerns that cannot be addressed by your Practitioner directly, please contact our Clinical Director (David Craigie) at david@edinburghpsychology.uk.
