Sev Ulgu
MSc, BSc (Hons)
Sev is a Psychological Therapist and CBT Practitioner who offers a warm, supportive, and collaborative space for adults and young people to explore emotional and psychological difficulties at their own pace.

Sev holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and achieved a distinction in her MSc in Psychological Therapies at the University of Edinburgh, where she also completed a Diploma in CBT. She is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS) and is currently working towards accreditation with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP).

Sev works in a structured yet flexible way, using a collaborative and evidence-based approach tailored to each individual. She supports clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including low mood and depression, anxiety disorders (such as GAD, health anxiety and social anxiety), panic, stress, OCD, trauma, sleep difficulties, and low self-esteem. Her practice is rooted in CBT, delivered in a practical and compassionate manner, and integrates elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed approaches where appropriate. She has recently completed Compassionate Mind training focused on recovery from Complex PTSD.

Sev is particularly passionate about supporting clients experiencing stress, anxiety, and difficulties with self-worth, as well as those navigating the unique emotional challenges of expatriate life. Her therapeutic work places strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, collaboratively identifying goals, and empowering clients with practical tools and insights to support long-term change, resilience, and self-compassion.
In addition to offering flexible individual therapy, Sev also delivers a structured CBT approach for clients who benefit from clear frameworks, goal-focused work, and practical strategies. This can be particularly helpful for those seeking a more guided, skills-based approach to managing specific difficulties.
Alongside her therapeutic work, Sev has extensive experience as a Support and Development Worker, supporting adults with complex needs to build confidence, strengthen coping strategies, and move towards greater wellbeing and independence. She has spent over two years at Hope Park Counselling Centre delivering CBT-based therapy to children and young people, and has also worked as a School Counsellor and Meaningful Activity Worker within the NHS. Through these roles, Sev has provided compassionate, person-centred support within multidisciplinary mental health and medical teams.

Sev works both online and in person with adults, young people (aged 16+), students, and families, offering evening and weekend appointments to make therapy more accessible and easier to fit around busy lives. For clients unsure about online therapy, Sev takes time to ensure sessions feel safe, engaging, and as close to the in-person experience as possible. She offers a reduced rate for self-funding clients (£100 assessment, £75 per session thereafter).
Sev is fluent in both English and Turkish and can offer therapy in Turkish for clients who feel more comfortable working in their first language.
