Jenny Kerr
MSc, MA (Hons)
Jenny is an experienced Senior Psychological Therapist, CBT Practitioner and ADHD Coach. She is a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) and qualified with a Master's degree in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care from the Universities of Dundee and Stirling in 2015. This is an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Training Course Level 1 by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). She is also a member of the Association for Coaching (AC). She has worked in a range of settings, including NHS Adult Psychology Services for over 5 years, and within private psychiatric healthcare, delivering both individual and group therapy. She is confident in practising within a pure CBT approach and holds a special interest in building and maintaining motivational change and self-assertion through the blending of accrued training in Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Solution Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to fit the needs and therapy or coaching goals of the client.
Within her therapy practice, Jenny uses a structured and evidence-based approach to work with clients experiencing a range of emotional difficulties, including low mood or depression, anxiety or stress, ADHD, low self-esteem or self-worth, panic, uncontrollable worry, health anxiety, phobias, grief, and sleep problems. She recognises that often more than one emotional difficulty can be experienced at a time and her work centres on tailoring the therapeutic journey to identify the key areas of focus within the fuller picture of a client’s life and upskill the client to help them manage their difficulties and to work towards their goals.
As a practitioner with late-diagnosed ADHD, Jenny also works as an ADHD Coach (adults 18+ only), using well-developed coaching skills to work with those who are living with or suspect that they have ADHD. Although not able to offer a formal diagnosis, Jenny works to navigate the emotional and behavioural journey of ADHD with clients. Passionate about empowering others using her lived experience of ADHD and her clinical background, her coaching aims to give space to educate and recognise challenges experienced within living with ADHD, to build back that sense of self, or self-esteem, which can often be lost or buried, and upskill daily life using tried and tested techniques to lessen the impact of executive dysfunction and emotional dysregulation.
In addition to her flexible individual therapy and coaching, Jenny also runs a 6-session CBT for Anxiety course (one-to-one) for individuals looking for a more structured approach. This course includes a full, personalised CBT manual and tailored techniques. Contact us for details on cost and availability.
Jenny currently offers daytime and evening sessions (face-to-face or online) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. She also offers a morning and afternoon clinic on Mondays. She offers a reduced rate for self-funding clients for therapy (£100 assessment, thereafter £85 per session). She offers online and face-to-face appointments.
