Ilona Snitka
[insert letters of qualifications]

Ilona is a qualified psychotherapist with a medical background, working with adults and young people (16+) who want more than just a safe space.

Her approach is warm and respectful, but also direct and engaged. She works at depth to help clients understand the emotional and relational patterns shaped by early experiences, attachment, trauma, and internal conflicts.

People often come to her when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, ashamed, or disconnected from themselves – when insight alone is not enough and they need a place to think, feel, and understand what is happening inside.

Ilona work psychodynamically and person-centred within a pluralistic framework (including Cognitive and Behavioural), integrating emotional processing, relational dynamics, embodied experience, and new ways of relating to yourself and others.  Her work is not only about coping, but about clarity, integration, and meaningful change.

Ilona qualified from Riga Stradins University in 2003 as a Medical Doctor, before going on to specialise in Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine in 2007.   After relocating to Scotland, she completed an MSc in Counselling from Abertay University in 2022.

She offers both short-term and long-term individual psychotherapy.  Sessions are face-to-face, and last 50 minutes.

Ilona is highly experienced working with a range of mental health issues, including Abuse, Addictions, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Mood disorder, Neurodiversity, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sexual identity, Stress, and Trauma.

Her approach is Integrative, Person centred, Psychodynamic, working with Adults, Older adults and Young people (16+).  Ilona speaks English, Latvian, and Russian.

Ilona currently offers daytime and evening sessions  (face-to-face only) on Monday evenings, Wednesday mornings and a limited number of Saturday appointments.  She offers a reduced rate for self-funding clients for therapy (£100 assessment, thereafter £85 per session).
